The Prelatura wines are produced by the Cafayate Prelature of the Roman Catholic church in Santa Maria, Catamarca.  The winery was set up by the Augustinian Monks 40 years ago, amongst other reasons to help the many small producers of grapes in the area.

The bodega and vineyards are situated at the altitude of 2,000 meters.  The climate is dry, sunny and windy, with cool nights and warm daytimes during maturation.  The water for the drip irrigation system is extracted from deep wells.  The first vineyards of Torrontes were planted in 1970 and the bodega was contructed in 1980 with help from German Catholics, Adventists, and missionaries.

We are pleased to introduce you to the Prelatura wines.
