Calathus Gran Corte 2015

A delightful blend of Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. On the nose there are strong scents of liquorice and ripe autumnal berries. Clean on the palette and with a smooth finish, this is a wine that's even more than the sum of its considerable parts. We often cite the Gran Corte as a wine to impress guests at a dinner party, and fingers crossed that chance to impress may well be the case later this year, so pick up a couple of bottles now.

This wonderful blend of Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot unashamedly shows off what Argentinian terroir can do to a grape.

There won't be an un-finished glass by the end of the evening. Pair with beef, lamb or, best of all, a juicy venison steak.

Calathus - Finca Don Carlos

Finca Don Carlos's vineyards are located in Tupungato, in the heart of Mendoza's Uco Valley, 1,000 metres above sea level.  The 40 year old vines are planted on espaliers and pergola trellises (also known as parral cuyano).  The winery was founded in 2003 and the Calathus branded wines you find on our website are named after the ceramic vases that were used to serve wine in Roman times.
