In December 2011 master winemaker Carmelo Patti bottled 6,092 bottles of The Gran Assemblage 2009 (see below for his description of its creation). It's a precision blend of 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Malbec, 20% Merlot, and 8% Cabernet Franc.
6,092 bottles. That's all. Once it's drunk, it's gone forever.
You should probably get at least one bottle. We only managed to get a small initial supply but have been able to increase our stock level due to our longstanding partnership with Carmelo and his family.
Unsurprisingly, we've tried one ourselves.
It's superb.
Carmelo himself gives us the details of his masterful creation:
"The 2009 harvest from the vineyards of Mendoza offers excellent grapes that produce exquisite wines.
For this assemblage I chose limited productions of four high quality varieties. In search of a new product worthy of the high standards of my supporters, this wine of harmony was created. It was aged for 12 months in new and used French oak barrels.
The wine has delicate and complex aromas, good structure and a long finish, qualities that will allow a long stay in the bottle."
