Pietro Marini Malbec-Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Notes of plump juicy raisins, courtesy of the Cabernet Sauvignon (30% of the blend) sing above the rich, deep rumble of plum and black cherry brought by the Malbec. Oak barrel ageing refines and adds great depth to the blend, and the European heritage of winemaker Andres Nanni means the wine has an incredibly French flavour profile that's more like something from the low, rolling vineyards of the Languedoc than the mountainous Calchaqui Valley.

If you fancy you've an expert palate, purchase the 2013 vintage as well and have a blind taste test (and if you'd like to cheat: the coffee notes are stronger in the 2013. We won't tell).

MEET the winemaker…

Pietro Marini - Bodega El Transito

At the begining of 2012 Tim Atkin, Master of Wine and award winning journalist, tasted over five hundred wines from Argentina.  One of the wineries that impressed him greatly was Bodega El Transito located in Cafayate, at over 6,000 feet, in the north-western province of Salta.  He includes this in his ten wineries to watch and he also rates the wines particularly highly.

The roots of the El Transito winemaking tradition stretch back to the end of the nineteenth century when the current owner's great grandfather, Pietro Marini, emigrated from Italy and settled in Cafayate.  The tradition has been handed down and is now in its fourth generation, in the very capable hands of Andrés Nanni.

We are delighted to introduce you to the Pedro Moises and Pietro Marini wine brands.
