Vicien Malbec Reserve 2014

A rich, full-bodied affair which truly does fill the mouth with silky smooth tannins and the flavours of firm red fruits, coffee, and wood. It's a sensation which continues on the tongue long after the first sip and will have you coming back for more.

Born from the cold nights and the high mountain air of the Fiambala Valley in Catamarca, Carlos Arizu's Malbec Reserve speaks of both the bold terroir of Argentina and his dedication to winemaking.

Grapes are hand-picked and held in oak barrels for 9 months, then racked but, crucially, not filtered. The result is what Carlos Arizu calls 'a mouthful of wine': a rich, full-bodied affair which truly does fill the mouth with silky smooth tannins and the flavours of firm red fruits, coffee, and wood. It's a sensation which continues on the tongue long after the first sip and will have you coming back for more.

It is one of the finest Malbecs coming out of Argentina, and a particularly good year. It will cellar for several years, but we advise pulling the cork now, simply on the grounds of it being so impressive.

MEET the winemaker…

Vicien - Cabernet de los Andes

Cabernet de los Andes SA was started in the year 2,000 by Pedro Vicien and Carlos Arizu with the aim of producing organic and biodynamic wine in the Valley of Fiambalá, Catamarca, in the north-west of Argentina. Situated at altitudes between 5,000 and 6,000 feet, Fiambalá is characterised by dry, hot days and cold nights. This gives a lot of fruit flavour and preserves the natural acidity of the grapes.

We are delighted to introduce you to the Plenilunio and Vicien wines from Cabernet de los Andes.
